Countryfile presenter Jules Hudson has touched the hearts of his followers with an emotional revelation about his previous career.

The well-known face of the BBC's Countryfile and Escape to the Country took to Instagram to share a poignant message reflecting on his military service in commemoration of Remembrance Day.

Unbeknownst to many, Jules served with the NATO Battlegroup in Estonia during the winter of 2018/19. "It's hard to believe that it's now six years ago that I served briefly with the NATO Battlegroup in Estonia over the winter of 2018/19," he posted.

"It's still there, working hard in sub zero temperatures to defend NATOs Eastern frontier. Spare a thought for our troops this Remembrance day who are doing all they can to support our Baltic Allies against the backdrop of the grinding tragedy of War in Ukraine."

His fans rallied around him, expressing their admiration and support. One fan commented: "Oh wow. I never knew. I'm always a massive advocate of Remembrance Day to remember those who have served so bravely. Proud of you for doing your bit."

Another shared: "Jules! ! Who knew. You are full of surprises.. excellent message. My dad flew spitfires as a Canadian and one of his training fields was Charmy Downs near Bath. Remembrance Day is always important to me and I hope everyone.."

One viewer was surprised, saying: "Wow didn't know that Jules...bless you."

A stalwart of the BBC series 'Escape to the Country' since 2007, presenter Jules recently took a sabbatical from his TV commitments for a three-month personal and creative recharge. "Late last year, I realised I was quite burnt out and needed a creative and emotional reset," he disclosed.

He shared with Lyme Regis and Bridport News in February that it was his wife's suggestion to take a break that initiated the change. "My wife said 'Why don't you take some time out and go to the Boat Building Academy?" he recounted.

The idea resonated with him, and after some thought, he opted to enroll in the 12-week furniture-making course at the BBA, reports the Mirror.

Jules had previously discovered the academy during a segment for 'Escape to the Country' in 2012, revealing he "fell in love" with it back then.

Following his intensive three-month training, Jules was keen to reassure 'Escape to the Country' viewers, sharing with the Express his intentions regarding the show: "I hope to do Escape to the Country for as long as I'm able and for as long as the show will have me. I absolutely love it, it's a show I'm incredibly fond of. It's very dear to me."

At home, Jules lives with his wife Tania Fitzgerald, their son Jack and Labrador dogs, Teddy and Lolo. Since marrying in 2016, they made their own choice to 'escape to the country', finding London life somewhat "very claustrophobic".
