Lorraine Kelly has celebrated her impressive 40-year career with fans on social media.

The Scots presenter is best known for her self-titled ITV show Lorraine on weekdays, and is widely regarded as the queen of daytime television.

Her long career has seen also seen Lorraine host many other popular daytime shows including GMTV, Good Morning Britain and This Morning.

This year has arguably been Lorraine’s most successful one yet, as she scooped a Special Award at the 2024 BAFTA TV Awards in May.

But despite her long and distinguished career in the national spotlight, Lorraine has previously paid homage to her origins in the Gorbals, in the south east of Glasgow.

The ITV presenter shared a black and white photograph of herself playing on the streets outside tenement flats as a toddler as she celebrated her birthday earlier this year.

Sporting a knitted bonnet and a mischievous grin, Lorraine explained that the picture is her earliest memory and she still doesn't “feel at all grown up”.

The 64-year old Scots star sported checked trousers and a mini jumper in the photograph, which she shared to her 561k Instagram followers. Vintage cars line the streets in the background.

Lorraine lived in the Gorbals until the age of two, when her family moved to East Kilbride. Her father John was a television repairman and is of Irish descent, although Lorraine is a proud Scot through and through.

The presenter now has a grown up daughter of her own, called Rosie, who welcomed Lorraine’s first grandchild earlier this year.

As the national treasure reflected on four decades on television, she told fans on Instagram: "It just feels so strange because it feels like five minutes. I'm so lucky to do a job that I really love".
