Virgin River fans demand Netflix 'better improve' key thing for season six

Virgin River is one of Netflix's biggest hits, but some fans believe the show has been let down by the streamer when it comes to promotional efforts - and they want change

by · Daily Record

Fans of Virgin River are making a strong plea to Netflix for the upcoming sixth season of the popular streaming drama.

The much-loved small-town drama centres around Mel Monroe (played by Alexandra Breckenridge), a woman who relocates to the picturesque Northern California town following a personal tragedy.

Once she settles in, she quickly develops feelings for local bar owner and former Marine Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson) and forms friendships with many of the town's inhabitants.

However, as hidden truths emerge and the townspeople confront their own issues, she soon realises that life in a small town is not as straightforward as she initially believed.

A sixth season of Virgin River is expected to land on Netflix before this year ends, but one fan recently took to Reddit hoping that the streaming giant will enhance one crucial aspect.

Fans have been disappointed by Netflix's lack of promotion

They argued that the series' promotion has been lacking in recent years, preventing it from becoming one of the platform's major successes.

"Just Putting It Out There," their post started. "Netflix better promote the new season 6 with lots of opportunities to see our favourites on all the various outlets.

"Watching all the Emily in Paris cast showing up everywhere. Same with Bridgerton when it debuted their latest season.

"I came late to the show, started watching just before season 5 came out. Because I'm getting old and some days feel like I have tapioca brain, I just don't recall as much promo love for VR.

"I think the cast can be given a lot of credit for all the promoting they did on their own, via IG etc."

Alexandra is known for keeping fans updated about the series on her Instagram and has recently launched a podcast with her co-star Zibby Allen, who plays Jack's sister Brie, where they interview the main and supporting cast of the show.

Despite Virgin River boasting one of Netflix's most loyal fanbases, it's uncommon to see the cast being interviewed by major media outlets.

One fan echoed this sentiment, responding with an exciting update: "I've been thinking exactly the same my friend. Alex said in her podcast that they did a photoshoot for S6 for the first time ever!

"I got the feeling they were planning to ramp up the promotion for S6 but I'll be surprised if it's anywhere near the same level as for the other two shows you mentioned.

"For Emily in Paris, they seem to be riding on Lily Collins's fame. Not sure glamourous premieres and stylish outfits would work for Virgin River, but hopefully they'll find a way to expose the cast & promote the show in tune with the VR vibes."

Another chimed in: "I've never seen [Emily in Paris or Bridgerton], nor do I want to. I don't even know who the actors are, but Martin Henderson is wildly popular internationally.

"One of the VR groups I'm in has over 45K members. The ladies love him and Netflix would do well to do a bit more promotion."

The release date for the sixth season remains a mystery, sparking speculation that we might see more promotional activity once Netflix finally announces when the new episodes will be available.

Virgin River can currently be streamed on Netflix.
