Strictly Come Dancing viewers rallied behind Pete Wicks during Sunday night's results show, following a heartfelt confession. On Saturday evening, Pete, 36, and his professional dance partner Jowita Przystal found themselves at the bottom of the leaderboard with a score of 22 for their Salsa to 'Another One Bites The Dust'.

After the performance, Pete, who was dressed as Freddie Mercury in tribute to the singer, could be seen apologising repeatedly while Jowita tried to comfort him. Following the judges' feedback, which highlighted some errors, Pete spoke to presenter Claudia Winkleman about his Queen-themed routine, saying: "It was definitely an honour, I think it's an ironic song for me tonight, another one bites the dust."

Despite the routine not going as planned, Pete and Jowita were saved by the public vote on Sunday's results show.

Speaking to Claudia after the results were announced, Pete made an emotional admission, saying: "I can't believe I'm still here and part of me feels like I probably don't deserve to be here!" Claudia quickly countered: "No, no, no, no!"

Pete continued: "Thank you, genuinely, thank you everyone. I am so happy to still be here!"

Viewers on Twitter have rallied to show their support for Pete after he expressed doubts about his place in the competition, with one fan commenting: "Pete is such a sweetheart thinking that he doesn't deserve to stay on the show. He absolutely does. #Strictly".

While another wrote: "I don't deserve to be here. Ohhh Pete you are popular and your personality shines through your dancing #StrictlyComeDancing #Strictly" complete with crying emojis. Others also chimed in, saying: "You can tell that Pete loves this show now #Strictly," reports the Mirror.

In related news, professional dancer Lauren Oakley unexpectedly took to the Strictly dance floor with JLS star JB Gill on Saturday night after Amy Dowden had to withdraw due to illness earlier in the week.

Amy, 34, who previously had to miss last Sunday's results show following a hospital visit, watched from the sidelines as JB and Lauren performed together.

A Strictly spokesperson updated fans last Monday, stating: "Amy Dowden MBE is doing much better and the Strictly family send her love and wish her well."

They added that Amy was pleased that Lauren could step in for rehearsals and perform with JB, with everyone hopeful for Amy's return to dance with him the following week.
