ITV This Morning pulled off air as Dermot O'Leary announces schedule change

by · NottinghamshireLive

This Morning concluded earlier than usual on Wednesday, wrapping up at 12:15pm instead of its regular 12:30pm slot. Host Dermot O'Leary informed viewers, "That's it from us, finishing a little bit earlier today for an ITV news special."

The schedule change follows an announcement made on Loose Women by Ruth Langsford the previous day.

She stated that the show would not air on Wednesday, October 30, due to the ITV News special replacing its usual time slot. "I've got to stop you there," Ruth interrupted her guests, "We are running out of time massively. Thank you so much. That is it for today; we are not here tomorrow. It is the Budget, how lovely."

She also mentioned, "But we will be back with you on Thursday at 12.30pm with Strictly's Johannes and Montell."

The Chancellor's Budget 2024 will be broadcasted starting at 12:15pm and concluding at 1:50pm, pre-empting Loose Women's return on Thursday at 12.30pm, while This Morning will resume its standard end time of 12:30pm on Thursday. Rachel Reeves, the Chancellor, is set to present Labour's first Budget in 14 years on Wednesday, cautioning that it will entail "difficult decisions.", reports the Mirror.

The government's plans for tax adjustments will be detailed in the upcoming Budget, which also encompasses significant decisions on spending for health, education, policing, and other public services. Following Shadow Chancellor Rachel Reeves' speech, Rishi Sunak, the current leader of the opposition from the Conservative Party, is set to deliver his response.

In other news, Wednesday's episode of This Morning featured hosts Dermot O'Leary and Alison Hammond interviewing a host of celebrities, including Strictly Come Dancing's Pete Wicks, actress Anna Maxwell Martin, and The Great British Bake Off champion Nancy Birtwhistle for a cooking segment.

Viewers expressed their reactions on Twitter when This Morning ended earlier than usual due to the Chancellor's Budget broadcast. One viewer commented: "Wait where did #thismorning go... The budget doesn't need to be on every channel", while another tweeted: "#ThisMorning ending 15 minutes early because of the Chancellor Budget" and another simply posted: "#ThisMorning bye" accompanied by a waving hand emoji.
