Martin and Shirlie Kemp have shared how they keep the spark alive in their long-term relationship, even with parenting duties alongside. The couple emphasised having fun, switching off from technology, and appreciating each other as keys to a lasting connection.

The two, who found fame back in their 20s with iconic bands Spandau Ballet and Wham! respectively, have grown a family while in the limelight: daughter Harley Moon Kemp, aged 34, an accomplished musician, and broadcaster son Roman Kemp, aged 31. Despite their children being adults, Martin and Shirlie still manage to cause a stir with their public displays of affection, much to the embarrassment of Harley and Roman.

They opened up about the importance of keeping that emotional bond charged, candidly navigating the balance between romantic moments and family commitments. Commenting on the battle to maintain intimacy, Martin noted: "It's so easy to let the romance fizzle, especially when your adult children are calling you every five minutes for advice on how to turn on the oven or you're trying to keep on top of after school activities, playdates, and the never-ending pile of washing up."

The celebrity pair have teamed up with easyJet Holidays as part of the 'Rekindle the Romance' package initiative, the launch inspired by a survey of approximately 1,700 couples identifying common barriers to romance such as lack of sleep, household chaos, and consistent meal preparations, reports Birmingham Live.

Shirlie also shared her thoughts, saying: "We go on multiple trips a year to stay connected, so we've loved this campaign and sharing how we've kept the passion alive for over 36 years."

The pressures of daily life, including household chores, childcare, and DIY tasks, are straining relationships. The study found that parents spend a significant amount of time watching children's TV shows and cleaning up after playtime, leaving little time for romance.

Even couples with older children struggle to find quality time together, with only one in five managing to have regular date nights. However, a vast majority (91%) recognize the importance of spending time together for a healthy relationship.

Despite the challenges, many couples are eager to rekindle their romance, with 62% planning a romantic getaway. Popular destinations for a love-filled escape include Sorrento, Santorini, Nice, Madeira, and the Algarve.

Nearly half of all couples (49%) admit they're at their best when on holiday, enjoying activities like dining out together. Holidays also see an increase in affectionate gestures, such as holding hands, and meaningful conversations.

Paul Bixby, Chief Commercial Officer at easyJet Holidays, remarked: "Parents are multitaskers and tend to put the kids first which leaves little room for romance. We're excited to offer parents the chance to reconnect and reinvigorate their relationships with our Autumn getaways, so couples can truly unwind without the usual distractions of daily life."
