ITV Coronation Street character's death 'faked' in twist after truth is 'revealed'

Coronation Street's Dee-Dee Bailey is set to discover a bombshell about her missing ex

Dee-Dee Bailey, played by Channique Sterling-Brown, may be vindicated as a shocking revelation next week could cast doubt on Joel Deering's alleged death. After terrorising Lauren Bolton and forcing her to secretly escape from Coronation Street, the duty solicitor portrayed by Calum Lill was unmasked for his heinous actions, resulting in him being charged and losing his fiancée Dee-Dee Bailey, who has been tirelessly striving to bring him to justice.

However, in recent episodes of the ITV soap, Joel disappeared from the cobbles and on Monday (September 30), DS Lisa Swain informed Dee-Dee that Joel had likely taken his own life after discovering a note in his deserted car, on the outskirts of Weatherfield. Despite this, Dee-Dee refused to accept that Joel was truly dead, especially after locating his escape vehicle near where his car had been discovered, and spoilers have confirmed there's a possibility she might be correct.

In upcoming scenes, Kit Green, played by Jacob Roberts, accesses the files on Joel's laptop and is appalled by what he uncovers, leading him to contact Lisa Swain, portrayed by Vicky Myers, to provide an update. However, later, Kit confesses he's finding it difficult to make progress with case.

Dee-Dee soon brings Kit some news that could aid in his quest to bring Joel to justice. In the cafe, the solicitor reveals to Kit that she contacted the wedding venue and holiday company, discovering that Joel has already retrieved their deposits - a clever financial move for a fugitive?

For weeks, Coronation Street viewers have suspected that Kit Green might be Joel's secret accomplice, reports the Mirror. On Twitter, now X, fans shared their theories, with one speculating, "Looks like Joel gonna be back for Xmas revenge storyline #Corrie", while another stated, "#Corrie ah yes - Joel faking his death! " Another fan suggested, "Kit has a hand in this Joel business. Mark my words. #corrie" Some expressed distrust: "Kit helped orchestrate that #corrie" and "Don't trust Kit at all... #corrie."

Calum Lill's departure from Weatherfield was announced over the summer. The former Hollyoaks actor joined the ITV soap last year as the duty solicitor and a love interest for Dee-Dee Bailey, but despite making a good impression on the fan favourite, viewers were immediately wary of him.

Recent developments have vindicated soap enthusiasts' suspicions about Joel's sinister activities, as it turns out he was behind Lauren Bolton's vanishing act, exploiting the distressed young woman and becoming the father of her newborn son. It has been officially confirmed that the character will make his departure from Weatherfield following news of the actor's resignation from the long-established show.

An insider told The Sun: "Calum has made a huge impact as Joel over the last year but he always knew it would be for a fixed term", adding details on the actor's impending final scenes, "He's been great playing Joel but all good soap villains must get their comeuppance and Joel's is coming very soon."
