Coronation Street's Mason Radcliffe, who is currently a suspect in the murder of Joel Deering, could be facing another twist. The character ended his relationship with Yasmeen Nazir on Monday night following the departure of Stu Carpenter.

Mason had been causing friction between the couple as Stu attempted to guide the troubled teen, but Yasmeen was keen to distance herself. Mason had previously bullied Liam Connor and upon his return, it was revealed that his older brothers were trying to involve him in criminal activities.

Despite Stu's efforts to steer Mason away from crime, a disagreement with Yasmeen led to his decision to leave. Recently, Mason was told he could no longer stay with the couple and has since found a new place to live.

However, he also worked at Yasmeen's restaurant, a job which he quit on Monday night. Mason claimed he had found a new job, raising Yasmeen's suspicions due to the speed of this development.

As Mason insisted he'd been offered a position at a garden centre, it was evident he wasn't being honest. Yasmeen tried to probe for more information about this supposed job, expressing her disbelief at his story, reports the Mirror.

But what is Mason hiding?

Does he really have a new job or has he been pulled back into his brothers' world of crime, agreeing to carry out illicit tasks for them?

This would seem logical, considering he's moved away from the street and suddenly no longer needed his job at the restaurant. But will Yasmeen intervene and offer him help?

In forthcoming episodes, Mason finds himself a suspect in Joel Deering's murder.

Detectives believe that Joel was killed with a crowbar, putting Mason under scrutiny when he is seen disposing of the same tool. However, could it be too early to make this connection?

Perhaps there's another reason for him getting rid of the crowbar, possibly related to his 'new job'.

If so, could it transpire that Mason is concealing something sinister that has nothing to do with Joel?

And if he does find himself being questioned over Joel's murder, could he end up being incarcerated for the crime?
