One last adventure is in store for the town of Hawkins….

The first teaser for “Stranger Things 5,” the final installment of the hit Netflix series, has hinted at a full circle ending for the beloved teens at the center of the ensemble show. The teaser was released during the annual “Stranger Things” Day in honor of the first episode of the series being set on November 6, 1983, titled “The Vanishing of Will Byers.”

Now, Season 5 will take place in 1987 and also has another “Vanishing of” episode, with that character name hidden in the teaser. The Season 5 episodes are as titled: “The Crawl,” “The Vanishing Of…,” “The Turnbow Trap,” “Sorcerer,” “Shock Jock,” “Escape from Camazotz,” “The Bridge,” and the series finale of “The Rightside Up.”

The fifth and final season of “Stranger Things” will premiere in 2025, with special screenings, in-person experiences, new limited-edition merchandise, and more leading up to the season premiere.

The official synopsis of the show reads: “On November 6, 1983, Will Byers went missing in Hawkins, Indiana. Long after the town gave up the search, his friends kept looking… and discovered a mysterious girl known only by a number: Eleven. She was alone, hunted, and extremely powerful. Eleven would stop at nothing to help them find their friend. A love letter to the ‘80s classic genre films that captivated a generation, ‘Stranger Things’ centers on a close-knit group of friends and family as they search for answers and are pulled into a high-stakes and deadly series of events. Beneath the surface of their ordinary town lurks an extraordinary supernatural mystery, along with top-secret government experiments and a dangerous gateway that connects our world to a powerful yet sinister realm. Friendships will be tested and lives will be altered as what they discover will change Hawkins and possibly the world — forever.”

The ensemble cast includes Millie Bobby Brown, David Harbour, Winona Ryder, Joe Keery, Sadie Sink, Finn Wolfhard, Joseph Quinn, Noah Schnapp, Maya Hawke, Jamie Campbell Bower, and more. The fifth season also welcomes new cast members Nell Fisher, Jake Connelly, and Alex Breaux.

Created by the Duffer Brothers, “Stranger Things” debuted in July 2016 and became one of Netflix’s most popular television series ever, with its fourth season alone amassing over 140.7 million views globally. The series has garnered more than 70 awards worldwide including Emmys and the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series, and has been nominated for over 230 awards.

Additional projects in the “Stranger Things” universe include the “Stranger Things: The First Shadow” live on stage in London’s West End, which will be coming to Broadway in 2025, plus an untitled animated spinoff series

While details about “Stranger Things 5” have been scarce, it has been confirmed that two out of the eight episodes will be directed by “The Shawshank Redemption” filmmaker Frank Darabont, who came out of an 11-year retirement to work on the final season.

Harbour said during the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast that the cast was “uncontrollably crying” while reading the series finale script.

“It’s [almost] 10 years later, and we examine that idea, and it’s so well done and so beautiful,” he said about wrapping up the show. “It’s such a great episode, and it’s such a great season. You guys will love it.”
