Vijaya Karnataka Kannada Habba: Cultural treat for all ages

The much-anticipated Vijaya Karnataka Kannada Habba is just around the corner, ready to deliver an unforgettable weekend of cultural festivities on Saturday and Sunday at the Jnana Jyothi Auditorium in central Bengaluru. Organised by Vijaya Karnataka in collaboration with Bengaluru City University, the festival will be offering a lively array of programmes to celebrate Karnataka’s rich heritage. It promises to be a vibrant celebration for Kannada and non-Kannada speakers alike, showcasing the art, literature, and cultural traditions of Karnataka.
Inauguration
The festival inauguration will take place on Saturday at 10:30 am, with dignitaries like Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar and Union Minister V Somanna in attendance. Numerous celebrities will also be joining the ceremony, marking the event as a significant gathering of Kannada artists, scholars, and patrons.
Festival highlights
Attendees can look forward to a lineup of traditional and contemporary attractions, including Yakshagana performances, a captivating Hulivesha (Tiger Dance), a dedicated book fair, and a magical children’s show. Attendees can also enjoy a food mela filled with local delicacies. Additionally, the British Council Library will be featuring an information kiosk at the venue, where visitors can scan a QR code for details on library resources.
The Kannada Habba’s Literature Pavilion will welcome noted author Vasudhendra and actress Shwetha Srivatsav to open the Book Fair, which will feature an impressive selection of literature for readers of all ages. In addition, discussions with these prominent figures will provide literary enthusiasts with insights into the world of Kannada literature. Attendees interested in learning Kannada will have an opportunity to participate in language workshops led by State Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh, with actors Priyanka Upendra and Pooja Gandhi contributing their insights.
The Kannada Habba will offer activities for everyone, with a magic show by Kudroli Ganesh, art and craft sessions in the Badal Prapancha area, dance and fashion shows by City University students, and performances by artists Vasuki Vaibhav and Chandan Shetty. Moreover, the event will have a special dance showcase by Prabhat Arts International and a Yakshagana performance of Mahisha Vadhe by Patla Sathish Shetty will be adding a traditional touch to the festival.
Free entry & parking
Visitors can enjoy free entry to the Kannada Habba along with free parking, with ample space for both cars and motorbikes.
