Rajkummar Rao says he can't afford Rs 6 crore car like other actors: Not that rich

Actor Rajkummar Rao talked about his financial status as an actor in an interview recently. He shared that most actors lose their mind when they get huge money and success overnight.

Actor Rajkummar Rao opened up on his financial growth as an actor in the Hindi film industry. He was speaking on a YouTube show when he mentioned that he's not as rich as people generally think him to be. Rajkummar, who delivered a mega hit film, Stree 2, this year, said he's not rich enough to afford a Rs 6 crore car like his fellow actors.

The 40-year-old actor appeared on Unfiltered With Samdish and shared that he is busy paying off his home loan, which is where a larger chunk of his earnings goes. When asked if he can afford a luxury car worth Rs 5-6 crore like other Bollywood actors, he said in Hindi, "Yaar, honestly itna paisa hai nahi jitna logon ko lagta hoga ki ye toh bhai ₹100 crore. Itna nahi hai [Honestly, I don't own this kind of money. I don't have as much money as people believe I have. I don't have Rs 100 crore]."

He added, "Bhai, EMI chal rahi hai. Matlab ghar liya hua hai, uski EMI hai achhi khasi. Toh matlab aisa bhi nahi hai ki nahi hai. Par aise wala bhi nahi ki aaj mann kia ki showroom mein ja ke, ‘Kitne ki hai wo?’ ‘Sir, ₹6 crore ki.’ ‘De de' [I am paying EMIs. I bought a house, and I am paying off the home loan. I mean it's not like I don't have money. But, I don't own enough to randomly go to a car showroom one day and buy a Rs 6 crore car]."

When asked if he could afford a car worth Rs 50 lakh, Rajkummar said he could, but he would have to analyse the finances and initiate a discussion at home about the purchase. "₹50 lakh ki, de de, but discussion hoga uspe. Ek second, le toh sakte hain, le le kya?," he answered. The actor went on to say that his financial status allows him to easily buy a car worth Rs 20 lakh.

Rajkummar, who is currently seen in the family comedy drama, Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video, is married to actor Patralekhaa. He earlier spoke about buying a house after following special advice by superstar Shah Rukh Khan. The actor spoke in an interview and revealed that SRK once told him to buy a house priced at more than what he could afford at that time, so that he worked twice as hard to pay for it and fulfil his dream.
