US-based tech entrepreneur Bryan Johnson, known for his anti-ageing experiments, announced his intention to visit India in a post on X, and while his travel plans piqued curiosity, it was his Hindi hashtag that prompted social media users to react.

In the post, Johnson said, “Thinking about visiting India,” followed by the Hindi phrase “Marna Mat,” which translates to “Don’t die.”

Johnson, whose mission to defy ageing had made headlines earlier, might have intended to convey a message of vitality, but this use of this Hindi phrase left several users scratching their heads in confusion.

Take a look at his post here:

His post triggered confusion among social media users and a few even tried to correct him as they suggested alternative Hindi words he could have used instead of “Marna Mat”.

A user, chuckling at the irony, asked, “Aren’t you all about longevity,” while another offered a more practical correction: “Use Dirghayu – meaning longevity.”

Several other users speculated that the tech mogul may have intended to reference his book, ‘Don’t Die’, and the translator botched the phrase in Hindi.

Johnson’s public anti-ageing efforts, which include a regimented lifestyle, specific diets, and various experimental treatments like microneedling and MRI scans, have previously hit headlines.

His social media posts often detail the steps he takes to maintain what he claims to be the body of an 18-year-old to achieve his ultimate goal of reversing the ageing process.

While his India visit remains speculative, one thing is certain: Bryan Johnson’s usage of the Hindi hashtag and the reactions that followed have already made his potential trip one to watch.
