New mother Deepika Padukone opens up about sleep deprivation, stress

Bollywood star and producer Deepika Padukone recently opened up about battling mental health issues. Deepika and her husband, actor Ranveer Singh, recently welcomed a baby.

Bollywood star and producer Deepika Padukone recently opened up about her mental health struggles and suggested ways to acknowledge those hard feelings about self and how to cope with it.

Speaking to media figure Ariana Huffington during the Live Love Laugh Foundation Lecture series held to mark World Mental Health Day, the actor shared her battles with stress and sleep deprivation.

"When you are sleep-deprived or burnt out, the decisions that you make (get affected), and I think sometimes I can actually feel it. I know on particular days when I am feeling stressed or burnt out because I haven't slept enough or practised my self-care rituals, I can tell that my decision-making is getting affected to some extent," the actor said.

Stating that it is normal to feel extreme emotions, the important thing is to learn from them, "It's absolutely normal and human to feel pain, anger, and some of these extreme emotions and learning from that. The larger picture is how you deal with that criticism and how you use it positively and work on yourself. You will have to put in the work and be patient."

Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh welcomed a baby girl on September 8. On the work front, the actors will soon be seen in Rohit Shetty's Singham Again, led by Ajay Devgn.
