Actor Ananya Panday, 25, admitted to being superstitious and said she has her nazar (evil eye) removed every week by her house help. She also shared that her mother, Bhavna Pandey, doesn't let her leave the house without a 'kaala teeka'.

During the promotion of her latest film, CTRL, Ananya spoke to comedian Raunaq Rajani. In the video shared by Netflix on YouTube, she said, “I take out my nazar every week. The help at my house does the mirchi thing. You know the mirchi thing? So, if it smells a lot, it means you have nazar. If the mirchi burns a lot, you have nazar. I don’t know the science behind it."

Ananya also shared that her mother, Bhavna, puts 'kaala teeka' behind her ear to shield her from the evil eye. "My mom put two black dots behind my ear before I came here. Everyone thinks I don’t shower or have something dirty behind my ear, but my mom keeps putting it again and again," the 25-year-old actor said.

Though Ananya spoke about her belief in superstitions, others on the interview panel said they do not believe in them.

Earlier, Farah Khan had released a video on her YouTube channel where she visited the Panday home and enquired about the absence of Ananya's father, Chunky Panday. Ananya's mother responded, "He’s getting his nazar removed."

Work-wise, Ananya Panday's film, CTRL, helmed by Vikramaditya Motwane, released on Netflix on October 4. The film also stars actor Vihaan Samaat, with whom Ananya also shared the screen in the Prime Video series Call Me Bae. Co-produced by Karan Johar, the show has already been renewed for another season.
