Rana Daggubati jokes Samantha went from his 'sister-in-law to sister', she reacts

Rana Daggubati and Samantha Ruth Prabhu shared some fun banter at the IIFA Utsavam in Dubai, where they joked about their relationship, and Rana teased her for not doing many Telugu films anymore.

Actors Rana Daggubati and Samantha Ruth Prabhu attended the IIFA Utsavam in Dubai last month, where they shared some fun banter on stage. A video of the moment was later shared on social media by Samantha’s fan. In the video, Samantha laughs as Rana jokes about how she went from being his sister-in-law to his sister.

After Samantha accepted the Women of the Year award from Vicky Kaushal at the event, Rana, along with actor Teja Sajja, asked her to stay on stage. The two stars then walked up to Samantha. Rana told the audience, "Samantha went from Tollywood to Hollywood. Went from my sister-in-law to sister."

His comment left Samantha and the audience in splits, and she jokingly asked him what this "self-trolling" was all about.

Rana then asked her why she hadn't done many Telugu films. In response, Samantha said, "If I do a film, it should be like Narasimha Naidu, not Rana Naidu."

For the unversed, Rana Naidu is Rana Daggubati's Netflix crime drama. Replying to Samantha, Rana, who was in a jovial mood, said, “That’s not cinema, sister, it’s a show. They told me you can do anything on it, I learned that from Family Man.” Samantha featured in the second season of the popular Prime Video series The Family Man.

Rana also shared how he used to address Samantha as "Samantha Ruthless Prabhu" and asked her, “But where did comedy Sam go?” She replied, “Comedy Sam... controversial Sam. She went to sleep; good night.”

Samantha Ruth Prabhu was married to Naga Chaitanya, and Rana Daggubati is his cousin. Samantha and Chaitanya got divorced in 2021. She shared the screen with Rana Daggubati only once in the 2016 Tamil film Bangalore Naatkal, where she had a cameo.

Meanwhile, Samantha is looking forward to the release of her Prime Video series Citadel: Honey Bunny, which will start streaming on November 7.
