Watch: Visibly unwell Rohit Bal's spirited dance at final fashion show
by India Today Video Desk · India TodayRohit Bal, one of India's celebrated fashion designers, died at the age of 63 on Friday after a prolonged illness. Bal, who was hospitalised for cardiac issues last year, bounced back from his health scare and presented his last collection Kaaynaat: A Bloom in the Universe at the Lakme Fashion Week X FDCI 2024 grand finale on October 14.
At the fashion show, Bal was visibly unwell but despite that, he broke into a dance on the ramp, which was applauded by Ananya Panday, who turned showstopper for the fashion designer, and other models present at the event.
As Bal was dancing, Ananya Panday, who wore a black lehenga with elegant red roses embroidered on it - a hallmark of Bal's design - and other models cheered for him. He held a rose in his hand and was in high spirits despite having health issues.
Known for his elaborate use of materials like velvet and brocade, Bal's intricate and majestic creations brought a timeless grandeur to Indian fashion.
