Tamil actor Jayam Ravi and his ex-partner are in a messy divorce. In a recent interview, the Ponniyin Selvan actor said that he is fighting for the custody of his two sons, Aarav and Ayaan, in the family court. On September 9, he announced the dissolution of his marriage with Aarti, which was met with a scathing reply from her. She claimed that she was blindsided by the announcement and that Ravi's decision was one-sided.

Speaking to Hindustan Times, Ravi levelled serious allegations against Aarti and said that he will fight it in court for the custody of two sons. "Yes, I want custody of my children – Aarav and Ayaan. I am ready to fight this divorce out in the court for 10 years or 20 years or however long it takes. My future is my children; they are my happiness," he explained.

He also expressed his future plans with his sons. Ravi stated that he'd want to produce a film with his elder son, Aarav, and introduce him to cinema. "That's the dream I have. When I acted with him in Tik Tik Tik six years ago, I had stated on stage at the success meet that it had been the happiest day of my life. I am waiting for that day again," he said.

Ravi also blamed Aarti saying that she never reached out to him for reconciliation. He said that she did not respond to the two legal notices that was sent to her. Explaining further, he said, "Does this behaviour look like she wanted to reconcile with me? Will there be news about a 'girlfriend' if the intention was to reconcile?"

Soon after Ravi and Aarti's statements, rumours about the actor having an affair with singer-psychologist Kenishaa Francis did the rounds on social media.

Ravi addressed the media after the audio launch of Brother in Chennai and slammed the link-up rumours with Kenishaa.

He said, "Live and let live. Don't drag anyone's name into this. People are saying random things. Don’t indulge in such acts. Let personal life be personal. Kenishaa is a person who sang in 600 stage shows. She came up in life with her hard work. She is a healer who saved many lives. She is a licenced psychologist. Please don’t involve her in this."

Ravi further added, "Kenishaa and I have plans of starting a healing centre in the future. That’s our goal. We want to help many people. Please don’t spoil it. Nobody can spoil it too. Don’t involve anyone unnecessarily."

Jayam Ravi and Aarti's first hearing in family court regarding the divorce will happen in October.
