In an exclusive interview with India Today Digital, she spoke about it and joked about how she became the first National Awardee to cry on stage.

Speaking about the moment when her name was announced, and she went up to receive her award, Parekh said, "It was unreal, it was surreal. How many words I use for this will fall flat. That's why I broke into tears. I was walking towards the stage, taking each step, thanking god, thanking my parents, thanking my husband and my daughter, and everybody who supports me in my life, who has always been there. I was like, "Oh my god, it's happening. I am actually in here in a room full of absolute incredible talent in the country, and I am one of them." So I just broke down."

She then added, "Sometimes, your body expresses more than words can." Manasi Parekh also joked, "I just got to know that I am the first ever national awardee who has actually cried. So, I have broken a record of some sort."

Directed by Viral Shah, Kutch Express also features Ratna Pathak Shah, Dharmendra Gohil, Darsheel Safary and Viraf Patell in pivotal parts. Manasi shared the award with Nithya Menen, who won it for her performance in the film Thiruchitrambalam, which featured Dhanush.
