If you are a fan of Anne Hathaway-starrer Princess Diaries, then this news will definitely make your mood even better. The third instalment of the fan-favourite film was announced today, October 4. It will be directed by Adele Lim, who has earlier directed films like Joy Ride, Crazy Rich Asians, and Raya and the Last Dragon.

“As a diehard fan of the original ‘Princess Diaries,’ I’m beyond excited to be a part of bringing the third iteration of this beloved franchise to life,” Lim said in a statement, as quoted by Variety. “We look forward to celebrating its core tenants of female power, joy and mentorship with audiences worldwide.”

Flora Greeson is penning the script for the film, which is being produced by Debra Martin Chase, the original producer of the franchise starring Anne Hathaway as Mia Thermopolis, the relatable teen-turned-queen of the fictional kingdom of Genovia, and Julie Andrews as her royal grandmother. Naia Cucukov, Lim’s producing partner at 100 Tigers, will serve as executive producer alongside Melissa Stack.
