Director Lokesh Kanagaraj has expressed his thoughts on Tamil superstar Thalapathy Vijay's announcement of his political entry.

Speaking to Sun News about Vijay’s decision to pursue politics, Kanagaraj said, "It’s my wish to see Vijay anna act in cinema. But I am not big enough a person to say anything. It’s my wish, but his goal is towards politics. So I wish him well and want to send my good wishes."

Vijay, a celebrated figure in South Indian cinema, surprised fans earlier this year by announcing the formation of his political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, on February 2, 2024. In a statement, he also revealed that he would be stepping away from acting after completing two more films – GOAT (Greatest of all Time) and Thalapathy 69 – to fully dedicate himself to politics in Tamil Nadu.

Thalapathy Vijay announced the name of his political party on February 2, days after the general body meeting. His party members will contest in the 2026 elections.

Thalapathy 69 is the actor's last film before he forays into politics full-time. Vijay officially launched his party, Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam, and will hold the first meeting later this month. The preparations for the same is underway.
