Kiran Rao's Laapataa Ladies is ruling hearts. The film is in the news ever since it has been announced as India's official entry for the Oscars 2025. The film was loved when it released and it got all the love and appreciation from fans as well as critics. Kiran Rao's directed movie has pushed behind many Indian films to enter the Oscars 2025. It has successfully beaten 28 other Indian films to emerge as the official pick. Surprisingly, even Cannes winner and Malayalam film All We Imagine As Light has lost out to Laapataa Ladies. All We Imagine As Light is directed by Payal Kapadia. Laapataa Ladies competed against 12 films to be India's official entry for the Oscars 2025.

It competed against six Tamil films, four Malayalam films, three Marathi films and an Odia film. Some popular films were Ranbir Kapoor starrer Animal, Chiyaan Vikram's Thangalaan. Prabhas, Deepika Padukone and Amitabh Bachchan starrer Kalki 2898 AD was also in the race. Laapataa Ladies also competed against National Award-winning Malayalam film, Aattam. Prasanth Varma's HanuMan also lost to Laapataa Ladies. Mangalavaaram was also in the list. Hindi films like Chota Bheem and The Curse of Damayaan, Good Luck, Kill, Srikanth, Kartik Aaryan starrer Chandu Champion was also in the list.

Manoj Bajpayee starrer Joram, Ajay Devgn's Maidaan, Vicky Kaushal's Sam Bahadur, Randeep Hooda's Swatantrya Veer Savarkar, Yami Gautam Dhar's Article 370 were also in the race but lost it to Kiran Rao's Laapataa Ladies. The film is creating waves in Entertainment News

Malayalam films like Aattam, Ullozhukku, Aadujeevitham, All We Imagine As Light were also in the list. Tamil films like Kottukkaali, Maharaja, Jigarthanda Double X, Thangalaan, Jama, Vaazhai also lost the chance this year. Many Marathi films were also in the race. Gharat Ganpati, Swaragandharva Sudhir Phadke, Ghaath also lost it to Laapataa Ladies.
