Tuesday morning's episode of the Stephen Nolan Show on BBC Northern Ireland was forced off air early as the presenter did not return after the 10am news bulletin.

The Stephen Nolan Show, which usually runs in the 9am to 10.30am slot, was cut short by half an hour when Nolan didn't return to the airwaves after the 10 o'clock BBC Radio Ulster news bulletin, reports Belfast Live.

Prior to the news, there had been a discussion on the war in the Middle East, but listeners were left confused when the bulletin finished and the last half hour was instead replaced with a longer edition of the Connor Phillips Show.

Taking to X, Nolan explained that he had received a call while on air to inform him that his mother, Audrey, had taken ill. "I got a phone call during the show to say my mum took ill this morning after falling overnight," he said. "I'm just letting you all know that's why I left early. Mum will always come first."

Fans of the show rushed to share their support with the presenter and sending their best wishes for a speedy recovery to his mum Audrey. It is not yet clear if the presenter will return to the slot on Wednesday.
