Radio and TV star Blathnaid Treacy has opened up about enjoying a booze free life since becoming a mother - as she reveals she’d love to expand her family.

Blathnaid welcomed her first daughter, Nancy, over a year ago with husband and musician Charlie Moon.

Speaking about her 15-month-old daughter Nancy, the 2FM presenter said: “Alcohol is definitely something that isn’t part of my life anymore because you’re not out going to the pub. That’s been great. It’s been really nice.

“We’ve a pizza oven out in our back garden so we’ll always invite friends out around the corner. Food has been our socialising now.

“It’s that transition to pre no babies to having a family now.”

Blathnaid opened up about her new life as part of being an ambassador for Supervalu’s Dinner Time Well Spent, which is calling for families to take back dinnertime by prioritising the dinnertime tradition.

According to the research, 80% of people in Ireland still believe that dinnertime is an important ritual that brings their family closer together and is a habit that we can’t afford to lose. Eight in 10 also expressed a desire to share more meals together, recognising the importance of this time spent with loved ones.

Additionally, 92% of households with children over 5 years old want to have dinner together more often yet 1 in 5 are only doing it twice a week.

As part of the campaign, SuperValu conducted in-depth research that explores evolving dinnertime rituals in Irish households.

Blathnaid, who is married to musician Charlie Moon, said having Nancy has made them look differently at preparing meals now.

“She’s 15 months. She’s been great. She’s made us look at preparing food differently. I’d be very quick, convenient, whatever fills me. But she’s now made me look at how we can have a varied diet.

“She’s 10 teeth now. She’s able to chew and loves broccoli. She is obsessed with broccoli.”

The Wicklow star said she would love to expand her family someday.

“We don’t know what will happen down the road. One day we would like to expand our family, but I feel like we’ve just come out the other side now. But who knows. It might not happen, or we could end up having twins.

“It’s hard to predict the future but one day we would like to expand our family.”
