Viewers were divided after Friday night’s Late Late Show, with some labelling host Patrick Kielty as “great craic” while others asked if the Late Late Show had “run its course”.

After Patrick started the show with his opening monologue, which included jokes about the latest Trump assassination attempt and Rory McIlroy, Saoirse Ronan joined as the first guest of the night, chatting to host Patrick Kielty about her new movie, The Outrun, and working with her husband on set.

TV presenter Rylan Clark was next up, joining Patrick, and Saoirse, in the RTÉ studio to talk about his his divisive new Paramount+ series Dating Naked UK, as well as performing a duet or two with the host.

Finally, hitmakers Snow Patrol joined to play two tracks for the audience before chatting to Kielty about their new album and their career before Kielty turned to the audience to show off some guests' Snow Patrol tattoos.

Viewers were divided on the second Late Late Show of the season, while some thought Kielty was “great craic” as a presenter, others disagreed asking if the “Late Late has run its course?”

One viewer shared: “Patrick Kielty seems like a decent person but I just can't get on board with the deliberate cringe humour. It's a bit (pooh emoji)”.

Another penned: “A crowd of people who made the effort to schlep out to Late Late and he still bombs the monologue! Maybe skip the attempted murder humour and snarky tribal jokes.”

“I’ve always enjoyed the Late Late Show since I was a teenager,” one more viewer expressed.

“I cannot watch Patrick Kielty though. Absolute crap interviewer. Whole show dumbed down now like a tacky English Saturday night show. The Late Late can officially f**k off”.

Another wrote: "This Kielty lad is as dull as dishwater. How he got the gig is beyond me. His interviewing skills are shockingly bad".

More viewers were unimpressed with the show, with one penning: “Please make this stop”, and another agreeing: “Oh Jesus. Make it stop lads!” While one more asked: “Has the Late Late run its course?”

One viewer disagreed, sharing: “Patrick Kielty is great craic what a presenter!”

While another wrote: “That was an excellent episode of the Late Late Show. More of the same please”.

One more shared: “The Late Late Show has surprisingly become a ‘let’s see what’s on and how Patrick Kielty is doing’ even in its second season. Bravo. Good guests, good music and just the right touch of zaniness from time to time.”

One more said: “Am actually enjoying the Late Late Show, Patrick Kielty has settled in well, light entertainment”.
