Elizabeth Hurley says 'sadly' as she reveals why she'd turn down Strictly Come Dancing
by Christopher Sharp · DevonLiveElizabeth Hurley, the model and actress known for her glamorous appearances, has candidly revealed why she would decline an invitation to compete on Strictly Come Dancing.
The 59-year-old, who made a brief appearance on the show in 2020 via video link, confided to The Guardian about her reluctance to join the dance competition, citing a history of physical injuries as a deterrent. Despite her concerns, she expressed a desire to master the "sensual" rumba.
Hurley detailed her physical setbacks: "Sadly, I have too many injuries sustained when filming. I have a prolapsed disc, ripped ligaments in my ankle and a dodgy shoulder."
She also shared her admiration for past contestants, particularly Abbey Clancy, saying, "If I were fighting fit, I would love to learn the achingly sensual rumba. My favourite contestant ever was Abbey Clancy, who'd never danced before and was brilliant in the final."
In a more whimsical turn during the interview, Hurley mused on what she might do if she were Queen for a day. Her hypothetical reign would see the banishment of car air fresheners and the introduction of prominent labelling on ultra-processed foods with large UPF stickers, reports Birmingham Live.
Her proposed Royal decrees didn't stop there: "If I were the real Queen, I'd outlaw air fresheners in cars. I'd pass a law obliging food manufacturers to put large UPF stickers on ultra-processed foods."
She suggested a reformative approach to white-collar crime, favouring community service over incarceration: "I'd ban prison sentences for white-collar criminals and make them give back to the community instead imagine if Lester Piggot had to teach inner-city kids to ride horses. And I'd lock up violent criminals for longer."
Additionally, she advocated for harsher penalties for violent offenders, stating, "I'd ban prison sentences for white-collar criminals and make them give back to the community instead imagine if Lester Piggot had to teach inner-city kids to ride horses. And I'd lock up violent criminals for longer."
As Elizabeth Hurley continues to shine in her acting career, she also leads this year's festive campaign for Debenhams. Reflecting on her hypothetical department store, which she'd name 'Hurley's', she remarked: "Vintage clothes."
"I wear mostly my old vintage stuff, like a black cashmere jumper with snowflakes on it that I've had for over 20 years. I loved being part of the Debenhams Christmas campaign, especially as I am lazy and do most of my shopping online."
The accompanying socialite of recent high-profile events is none other than her dashing son, 22 year old actor and model Damian Hurley. Earlier in the year, they collaborated on a cinematic project, 'Strictly Confidential', directed and penned by Damian; Elizabeth took part not just as an actress but also as a co-producer.
