Strictly pro Katya Jones and her celebrity dance partner Wynne Evans have reached out to their followers after a clip from the previous evening's show, capturing an uncomfortable moment, circulated on social media platforms.

The footage depicted Wynne seemingly trying to place his hand on Katya's waist, which she appeared to swat away, displaying signs of discomfort, before he made another attempt.

In response to fans' concerns, Katya initiated a video message saying: "Hello everybody it's Wynne and Katya here. We just wanted to say we were just messing around in the Clauditorium on Saturday night and just want to say sorry. It was a silly joke." Wynne chimed in with: "Yes sorry."

Wynne also posted a caption stating: "Apologies for this tonight we were just messing around. We really are amazing friends. The high 5's is a running joke. Have a great evening @katyajones.", reports the Mirror.

However, the audience seemed less amused by the high-five humour and instead focused on Wynne's seemingly inappropriate hand placement on Katya's waist.

One viewer expressed their concern, writing: "Sorry guys how is that a joke? Ok the refusal to do the high five and the eye roll, yep get that, but the hand slowly moving across Katya's stomach, and her moving it away and looking seriously uncomfortable? ? How is that a 'joke'?"

Another person was troubled, asking: "And the hand sliding across the waist? Was that a joke too?" A third individual pleas: "Please leave Strictly Come Dancing... you're making your partner uncomfortable, not cool!" A fourth spectator remarked: "Well mate your body language and eye flicker tell another story. Used to being handsy with women clearly."

Yet, some fans found the uproar exaggerated and offered support to the duo. One admirer enthused: "Didn't see it but you two have a great relationship. Love your dance tonight!" Another supporter wrote: "You haven't done anything wrong, neither has Katya. This is just normal human interaction amongst two people, with jobless people reading and interpreting salacious nonsense into hand gestures. Keep dancing and have fun."

A fellow fan lamented: "Honestly devastated that you both feel you have to apologise. Neither of you have done anything wrong at all. My absolute favourites from week one and your dance tonight was fantastic."

On Saturday night (October 12) the duo received a score of 34 for their Tango performance to Abba's "Money Money Money", with judges Anton Du Beck and Craig Revel Horwood awarding them 8s, and Shirley Ballas along with Motsi Mabuse scoring them nines. Anton described the dance as "tremendous", while Craig expressed his enthusiasm saying he "loved it" and proclaimed: "Winner, winner, winner."
