Strictly Come Dancing enthusiasts were taken aback when the judges apparently failed to comment on Pete Wicks's error during his recent performance on the BBC dance competition.

Pete Wicks, 36, known for The Only Way Is Essex, delivered a samba with professional partner Jowita Przystal, 30, to the soundtrack of George of the Jungle as part of the show's Movie Week on Saturday, 5 October.

Despite a hitch in their footwork resulting in a minor stumble, the duo continued with gusto and even secured Pete's highest score to date, achieving 26 out of a possible 40 from judges Shirley Ballas, Motsi Mabuse, Craig Revel Horwood, and Anton Du Beke.

Fans with a keen eye didn't miss the slip-up and expressed their views that the panel may have deliberately ignored the blunder when giving feedback, reports Wales Online.

A flurry of reactions surfaced on social media highlighting the omission, including one fan who noted: "I noticed that the judges didn't notice Pete's mistake - it was either very minor or they didn't want to mention it. #ItTakesTwo #Strictly." (sic)

Others highlighted how the judges had apparently disregarded the mistake during the live broadcast. A spectator commented on X: "Shirley 'overlooking' mistakes due to it being Pete Wicks. So Predictable Shirley." (sic)

Another frustrated viewer expressed: "I do think Pete has been royally stitched up here, but Shirley choosing to 'overlook' mistakes when it's a pretty male celeb absolutely does my head in." (sic)

Wicks and Przystal later attended the It Takes Two episode aired on Monday, 7 October, where they spoke about the incident on the dance floor.

On It Takes Two, Pete commented: "It's the third week and that's the first time I've tripped, so that's a surprise. If I wasn't enjoying it, then I think it would have got to me. Because I was enjoying it, it is what it is, things happen don't they."

Jowita chimed in with: "It's a live show. Live telly, anything can happen. But, the most impressive thing... he didn't even blink! He just kept going."

Pete and Jowita have successfully avoided the dance-off so far, having been chosen by public vote to stay in the competition on two occasions.

The first elimination resulted in Olympian Tom Dean being sent packing, while singer Toyah Willcox was the one to leave after the second dance-off from the BBC programme.

Joining Pete in the contest, other celebrities still vying for the Strictly crown include Nick Knowles, Tasha Ghouri, JB Gill, Jamie Borthwick, Chris McCausland, Wynne Evans, Dr Punam Krishan, Shayne Ward, Sarah Hadland, Montell Douglas, Paul Merson, and Sam Quek.

Strictly returns this Saturday at 6.20pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
