Devon cafe with spectacular views lands top awards

It "exudes a distinct holiday ambience as soon as you walk through the door"

A Shaldon cafe has won two awards in a regional ceremony recognising the best of food and drink in Devon. The Bucket and Spade Café won gold in the Best Pub and Best Café categories.

It also bagged a ‘Silver’ in the Best Restaurant category. Based at Coast View Holiday Park in Shaldon, The Bucket and Spade enjoys spectacular views across the Jurassic coastline.

Managing Director, Josh Donald of Coast View Holiday Park, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled with another successful night of awards for the Bucket & Spade with Food Drink Devon! After a comprehensive refurbishment earlier this year, we’ve enjoyed welcoming back our loyal locals and visitors in the area over the summer. We’re delighted our customers are enjoying our locally sourced food and brilliant service.”

Devon’s food and drink scene came out for at the 13th Food Drink Devon Awards on Monday (October 7) night. Over 250 of the county’s finest food and drink producers, hospitality and catering businesses and speciality retailers celebrated in style at the esteemed awards’ ceremony held at Sandy Park in Exeter.

It adds: "Relax and unwind on the stunning terrace or the restaurant serving breakfast, lunch or dinner and gaze over the recently updated autumnal menu."

Diners can expect popular family favourites with the focus on locally-sourced produce and many vegan and gluten free options available. Fresh and local fish dishes and West Country beef feature on the menu alongside light bites and healthy salads with their popular traditional Sunday lunch.

A wide selection of artisan local beers, wines and spirits are available from the well-stocked bar. The Bucket and Spade Café is open to on-site lodge owners at the holiday park and to members of the public.

It’s also a popular venue for ‘work club’. For £8 per day, you can use The Bucket and Spade’s Wi-Fi, enjoy unlimited tea and coffee and parking is free.

With spectacular panoramic views over the Jurassic coastline, it’s the perfect backdrop so you won’t even feel like you’re working. Open seven days a week, Coast View Holiday Park members can enjoy the beautifully warm indoor swimming pool or if feeling a little more active use the state-of-the-art gymnasium to work up a sweat before dining in The Bucket and Spade Cafe.
