Heartfelt tributes have been paid to a much-loved grandfather who was a "true character". Sydney Bell's family said he was a "much loved father" and "cherished grandfather".

Mr Bell is among more than 70 lost loved ones in Devon being remembered this week. We publish the notices, along with in memoriams and acknowledgements, as part of a longstanding tradition in local media.

Patricia passed away peacefully at home in Brixham on 14th September 2024 aged 82 years, with her family at her side. She will be sadly missed by all the family.

(Al) We are sad to announce the death of Alan Drummond (8/2/47 - 29/9/24). A lifelong Plymothian, Alan began his working life as a carpenter before serving as a local government housing officer for many years and finishing his career in the Derriford branch of B&Q.

He will be known to many as a keen amateur bike rider, long-time member of the St Budeaux Cycling Club and organiser of the Plymouth International Cycling Week. In retirement, he was a committed Marie Curie fundraiser and served as chairman of the Friends of Mount Edgcumbe Country Park, a place that was always close to his heart.

A devoted husband, father and grandfather, he died peacefully at home and is survived by his wife Carol and children Paul and Andrea. Alan's death will be marked by a Funeral Mass at St Peter's, Crownhill at 10.00am on Wednesday 23rd October, followed by a committal at The Park Crematorium at 11.30am on the same day.

Mark passed away peacefully at home on 3 October 2024, aged 55 following a courageous battle with a stroke and then pancreatic cancer. Loving husband to Jane, Mum Francis, dad Roger (deceased), Son Philip and father-in-law to Andrea, brother to Debbie.

Born 4th October 1939 in Devonport. Died 13th September 2024 in Torpoint. The family moved to Efford shortly after the war. Joan attended Stoke Damerel High School, prior to working as a telephonist.

She married David Hodge who predeceased her in 2000. Joan is survived by her four children, Susan, Allison, Deborah and Michael. She had nine grandchildren and one great grandchild.
