Richard and Judy's life in beautiful Cornwall village where homes average £700k
by Sophie Law, Millie Bull · DevonLiveRichard Madeley and Judy Finnigan are best known as the original hosts of This Morning, but away from the screen the couple enjoy a quiet life in Cornwall.
The husband-and-wife team first captured the nation's heart on ITV's 'This Morning' before later hosting their own chat show Richard and Judy on Channel 4 from 2001 until 2008.
In addition, they penned their joint memoir 'Richard and Judy: The Autobiography', released in 2002.
While they have worked together on several projects, both Richard and Judy have also enjoyed individual success. Judy, 76, has become a Sunday Times bestseller with her novel 'Eloise', while Richard, 68, has been seen presenting on ITV's Good Morning Britain.
The pair first crossed paths in 1982 at Granada TV, where both were already married to other partners. Their own marriage took place in Manchester in 1986, and they have since welcomed two children, Jack and Chloe.
Richard also plays the role of stepfather to Judy's twin children from her previous marriage, reports the Express.
Beyond their television careers, Richard and Judy lead a tranquil life in the picturesque Cornish village of Polperro. They discovered their love for Cornwall during a pre-marital holiday, staying in a cottage between Looe and Polperro, and now reside near Talland Bay, close to Polperro.
Judy shared in Coast Magazine last year, "We live at Talland Bay, near Polperro, that is where we call home. We are here most of the time and Richard likes to walk over the cliff path to Polperro every day."
She added: "It is a great walk and you get to meet and know local people who have mostly accepted us as their own now."
Polperro, a fishing village nestled on the south coast of Cornwall, is brimming with charm. The harbour offers visitors breathtaking views of the sea and cottages tucked into the verdant hillside.
The large village is renowned for its smuggling history that dates back to the 18th and 19th centuries, as well as the South West Coast Path that runs directly through the village.
From Polperro, one can stroll along the coast path towards Looe, eventually reaching the tranquil Talland Bay.
Talland Bay boasts two coves, forming two beaches - Talland Sands and Rotterdam Beach. Both provide opportunities to explore rock pools at low tide and swim in the bay's crystal clear waters.
Polperro offers a variety of property types, including cottages - some of which are Grade II-listed - terraced houses, detached houses, semi-detached houses and flats.
However, purchasing a property in the village is not inexpensive, as per data from Rightmove.
Over the past year, properties in Polperro had an overall average price of £704,300.
Detached properties made up the majority of sales in Polperro over the last year, selling for an average price of £1,003,333. Semi-detached properties sold for an average of £250,000, while terraced properties fetched £261,500.
