Strictly Come Dancing's results show tonight, following the glitz of Movie Week, swiftly drew the ire of fans as they noticed a marked change in the programme's format. Moments after the show kicked off, social media – currently known as X – saw an influx of messages from confused viewers lamenting the absence of the familiar professional dance number opening.

Displeasure was widespread, with one viewer posting: "They're opening with the results first? Don't they nearly go straight into a pro dance? #Strictly."

Another fan expressed irritation, commenting: "WHY DO THEY KEEP CHANGING THE FORMAT #scd."

Despondence over these tweaks echoed through the Twitterverse, as another chimed in with: "I know they're only small changes but I hate this new format #strictly."

Queries were raised by fans missing the traditional start, with one pleading: "Why have we stopped starting with a group number i'm so confused #strictly" and another venting: "I don't like this new format of not opening with the group dance. Looking forward to the rom com dance #Strictly #StrictlyComeDancing.", reports the Mirror.

In the midst of the debate, another viewer demanded, "The Sunday opening dance is always the best. Where is it? #Strictly."

In stark contrast, Saturday night's themed spectacle delighted fans when the professional dancers emerged as characters from the 'Despicable Me' universe with Kai Widdrington portraying Gru, and his fellow dancers slipped into bright yellow bodysuits to channel the beloved Minions.

Meanwhile, the celebrities and their dance partners dazzled with movie-inspired routines complete with stunning costumes. However, Sunday will sadly see the second celebrity exit the show.

Ahead of the weekend, DIY SOS star Nick Knowles and his dance partner Luba Mushtuk were scheduled to perform the Charleston to Rain On The Roof from Paddington 2 before Nick had to withdraw on Friday due to an injury. This follows last weekend's departure of Olympian Tom Dean and his dance partner Nadiya Bychkova, who were the first pair to leave the competition.
