Strictly Come Dancing enthusiasts were quick to highlight yet another tense interaction between Wynne Evans and his dance partner Katya Jones as they progressed to next week's competition.

After Saturday evening's show, a wave of controversy surrounded Katya and Wynne when it was observed by viewers that Katya had shifted Wynne's hand away from her waist during the live broadcast. The footage capturing this uneasy exchange swiftly spread across the internet, sparking a furore among fans on social media platforms.

In response to the incident, the dancing duo issued a video statement on Saturday night, with Katya clarifying that the gesture was meant in jest. Nonetheless, given the previous episode's awkwardness, spectators couldn't help but notice the continued tension between them.

During Sunday night's results programme (October 13), Katya and Wynne were announced safe, thus evading the feared dance-off. However, when presenter Tess Daly delivered the good news, there was a noticeable pause before Wynne reciprocated Katya's hug.

Social media users didn't miss a beat, taking to X to express their observations. One fan commented: "Wynne kept his hands by his side until Katya hugged him first.", reports the Mirror. Another remarked: "Wynne very sheepishly saying thanks."

A third chimed in: "Katya and Wynne looked super awkward there." A fourth speculated: "I do wonder if Wynne has been spoken to, he looked very nervous before and after Tess announced they were through. They must have seen the reaction on here last night."

Despite social media buzzing about Wynne's apparent discomfort, viewers came to the celebrity's defence. One fan remarked: "Katya has her own voice and said she is fine with Wynne in two separate videos now."

"They were having a joke. Perhaps it would be a good idea to take it for what it is rather than ruining a guy's experience which he's clearly loving and potentially tarnish his reputation."

Another supporter echoed these sentiments: "Ok, so what if the Katya and Wynne incident was just something silly and nothing more? Poor Wynne looks shell shocked on the results show."

Addressing concerns after the Saturday show, Katya and Wynne made a joint apology via video. "Hi everyone, it's Wynne and Katya here. We just wanted to say, we were just messing around in the Clauditorium on Saturday night," Jones explained. "We just wanted to say sorry. It was a silly joke." Wynne also offered a simple "sorry" as he looked into the camera.
