The results revealed that Edinburgh Christmas Market is one of the most Instagram-worthy markets in the UK, having accumulated over 56,800 hashtags on Instagram.

Renowned for its stunning views of Edinburgh Castle and highland allure, the Scottish spectacle is only surpassed by London's Winter Wonderland and Manchester Christmas Markets.

Edinburgh is a captivating destination throughout the year, but it truly sparkles during the Christmas period. Boasting a unique mix of medieval and Georgian architecture, as well as iconic landmarks such as Edinburgh Castle, the Royal Mile and beautifully preserved Georgian terraces in the New Town, it provides an incredible backdrop for awe-inspiring photos.

Visit Scotland says on their website, "Edinburgh at Christmas time is truly magical! Each year Edinburgh's Christmas and Edinburgh's Hogmanay come up with an exciting array of events to get everyone in the mood for the holiday season," reports the Mirror.

For Christmas 2024, Edinburgh will not only host three separate markets but also a slew of events throughout the city. These include the UK's largest illuminated Christmas Tree Maze and East Princes Street Gardens' Christmas Market situated in the scenic heart of the city.

The bustling market in East Princes Street Gardens happens against a breath-taking backdrop featuring Edinburgh Castle and the Scott Monument. Attendees can browse over 70 individual stalls offering everything from handcrafted goods and unique items to scrumptious offerings from both local and worldwide suppliers.

Additionally, visitors have the chance to soar above the capital on Scotland's tallest Ferris wheel, standing at an impressive 46 meters, or the adventurous Around the World Star Flyer for panoramic views of Edinburgh.

For families, West Princes Street Gardens transforms into a convivial zone filled with funfair attractions and seasonal refreshments starting Friday, November 15. It's an area where comfort meets festivity, complete with warmth-giving drinks such as hot chocolate or mulled wine.

Moreover, the Ross Bandstand is set to provide an array of festive live entertainment suitable for all ages with choirs, shows and various performances scheduled to take place. George Street West and Castle Street will also play host to plenty of festive fun.

Edinburgh's celebrations will also feature a spectacular ice rink on George Street, accompanied by a warming zone offering hot drinks and treats from food stalls. Visitors can also enjoy traditional fairground rides, workshops for wreath-making and ice carving, and stalls selling last-minute gifts.

The Polar Ice Bar, a new addition this year, promises to be the capital's coolest spot for a festive drink.

As part of the Hogmanay celebrations, a four-day programme of world-class events will take over the city, starting with the torchlight procession on 29 December, which will make its way through the Old Town for the first time since 2019.
