Liam Gallagher says he and Noel won’t be doing Oasis interviews because they’re “scared of the media asking us intrusive questions and trying to pick holes in our relationship”

It comes after the two brothers – who formed Oasis together in the early ‘90s and split in 2009 following tensions – confirmed that they were back on good terms and announced their long-awaited reunion back in August. While no plans for new music have been officially confirmed yet, they have been sharing a long string of gigs in the UK, Ireland, Australia, the US and Mexico.
Upon announcing the UK dates, the brothers told fans that these would be their only shows in Europe, and vowed that they will not be making any festival appearances next year.
Now, Liam has confirmed that he and Noel have no intentions of doing any interviews together, as they are “scared” of being asked personal questions and of the media potentially trying to pick apart their relationship.
The Britpop icon shared the update on X/Twitter this morning (October 10), responding to a fan who shared a post reading: “Fans we must acknowledge that liam and noel’s relationship > oasis as a band. Their relationship has been marked by estrangement for years, and we must note that the media contributed to their tensions.”
In a reply message, Liam wrote “RESPEK”, before going on to add: “We don’t want to do interviews coz we’re scared of the media asking us intrusive questions and trying to pick holes in our relationship.”
He also added to another fan who questioned him about the potential of a joint interview with Noel, saying that part of the reason was also because he “can’t be arsed”.

While no joint interviews between the brothers have been locked in yet – and it now seems increasingly likely that none are expected for the near future – the two have been vocal about their relationship in separate public appearances.
Liam, for instance, has frequently opened up to fans on social media and shed light on his relationship with his brother.
After taking a brief break from Twitter around the time of the comeback announcement, Liam has been pretty vocal on the platform, and responded to a fan last month who asked if he was going to stop “tweeting shit about Noel”.
“Nope it’s all done, peace has prevailed, he’s the man,” Liam replied. “I can’t wait to be on stage with him blowing him kisses in between each song.”
That prompted another to ask, “Is Noel still a potato?”, referring to a long-running insult that the singer has used for his brother. “No he is bloody well not,” Liam retorted. “I won’t have a bad word said about that gorgeous talented young man.”
That same day, he also told fans that a new Oasis album was “already finished”, and reaffirmed the statement to another fan, writing: “It’s in the bag mate fuck the air”.
A similar case has been seen for Noel too. At the end of August, just as news of the reunion arose, the High Flying Birds frontman gave his first impromptu “interview”, and joked about why the band fell out in the first place.
“Why’d I fall out with him? ‘Cause he stole my teddy bear,” Noel said while being approached for a chat by a man named Steve Sheward and his four children in a London shop. “Not lying. He stole it in 1978.”
More recently, he made a surprise appearance at the Abbey Road Music Photography Awards to honour Oasis photographer Jill Furmanovsky.
In addition to the current dates in the UK, North America, South America, and Australia, NME has been informed that the band is still set to announce dates in more cities across the globe. The remaining territories with dates that will soon be announced are South Korea, Japan, Brazil, Chile and Argentina.
As well as ruling out a headline performance at Glastonbury 2025, the brothers have also shot down rumours of a return to Knebworth in 2026.
Meanwhile, fans have been speculating over who will be opening for Oasis at their reunion shows next year. So far, support has only been announced for the North American leg – which will see Cage The Elephant join the line-up.
It was reported last month that Liam Gallagher was seeking “established acts” to appear on the bill. The frontman has since suggested that Manic Street Preachers and Richard Ashcroft could take on opening slots.
Elsewhere, Blossoms recently spoke to NME about the possibility of supporting Oasis at their Live ’25 dates. It currently looks unlikely that Suede or Fontaines D.C. will be on the line-up after Liam hit out at both bands online.
