Zendaya on ‘Euphoria’ season three: “The time jump is happening”
The two-time Emmy winner joked that "there’s only so much high school drama you can deal with"

The two-time Emmy-winner plays Rue Bennett in the show, and recently revealed the third instalment will feature a time jump, which she said was “important” on Entertainment Weekly‘s The Awards podcast.
“Because there’s only so much high school drama you can deal with,” she joked, adding: “And then she cheats on her boyfriend again!” Zendaya will also act as an executive producer on the show, and while she couldn’t give much detail, promised the new storylines will be “fascinating”.
“I don’t actually know much about what is happening,” she admitted. “I don’t quite know exactly what the season is going to look like, but I do know that the time jump is happening.”
The Dune star continued: “It will be fascinating to see and understand these characters outside of the context of high school and how all the stuff that we saw when they were kids and they were in high school affects the adulthood they have and who they become in a much bigger world. I’ll be interested to see what happens too.”
Similarly, Sydney Sweeney, who plays Cassie Howard, opened up about the time jump earlier this year, telling Cosmopolitan it was “a new process” for her.

“I’m kind of just learning as I go and being open for whatever’s to come. But I’m also really excited. I love Cassie. She is always such a thrilling character to play, so I’m really looking forward to what’s gonna happen in her life.”
HBO’s head of drama Francesca Orsi confirmed in July that the show will begin shooting this coming January, after numerous reports about the delay of the third season, which were compounded by the tragic death of Euphoria star Angus Cloud in August last year.
The delays were enough to apparently confound even its lead stars – with Sweeney telling NME that she doesn’t “know how soon I’m going home”, having said working on the show felt “like home” when she returns to it.
Meanwhile, Zendaya said earlier this year that the show’s delays were “beyond me”.
The comment came amid swirling rumours that the creative relationship between Zendaya and Sam Levinson had soured after he moved away from Euphoria to focus solely on The Idol – a show that was universally panned by critics and cancelled after just one season.
