The Weeknd has released his new single, a collaboration with Playboi Carti titled ‘Timeless’ – check it out below.

Earlier this month (September 7), the Canadian musician played a huge live-streamed show in São Paulo, Brazil to usher in his new era, debuting a number of new songs. Carti joined him on stage that day and the two played ‘Timeless’ for the first time.

Now, the track has received its official release, complete with production by Pharrell. It is the second official collaboration between the two artists, following on from 2023’s ‘Popular’, recorded for The Weeknd’s ill-fated soundtrack album for his HBO series The Idol. That track also featured vocals from Madonna.

Check out ‘Timeless’ below.

‘Timeless’, as well as recent single ‘Dancing In The Flames’, are expected to be included on The Weeknd’s new album ‘Hurry Up Tomorrow’, which will serve as the third and final chapter in his ongoing trilogy that began with ‘After Hours’ and ‘Dawn FM’.

The artwork for ‘Hurry Up Tomorrow’ has also been unveiled on social media, featuring a simple close-up shot of Abel Tesfaye’s face, in a departure from the facial prosthetics used during the ‘After Hours’ era. No release date for the album has yet been announced.

A statement about the new album said that it “represents the creative apex of the project, serving as the third and final chapter crafted with existential and self-referential themes as seen with the latest visionary teasers that have set fans ablaze with anticipation for this concluding instalment.”

The final addition to the trilogy will mark the first album from The Weeknd since 2022’s ‘Dawn FM’. In a four-star review, NME wrote: “‘Dawn FM’ feels like the first steps on a journey for The Weeknd to find peace with himself; perhaps next time we hear from him, he’ll be fully embracing the light of day.”

Carti, meanwhile, also appeared on Camila Cabello’s glitchy single ‘I Luv It’ earlier this year, appeared at the Grammys with Travis Scott, and recently released the solo single ‘All Red’.
