Marks & Spencer shoppers have heaped praise on a "soft and cosy" cardigan that will bring a designer look to your autumn wardrobe for a fraction of the price.

The Cotton Rich Textured Cardigan is being snapped up thanks to its stylish textured finish that makes it look more expensive than its £45 price tag, with classic cream or black options to choose from. Made in a rich cotton-blend yarn to keep you warm all the way through to winter, the cardigan is finished off with a button-through fastening and front pockets for a timelessly smart look that make it suited to dressing up as well as down.

Several pieces in M&S' new autumnwear collection have drawn comparisons to Chanel, including another cardigan and a tweed jacket, and this cold weather staple also echoes the designer brand's signature look. In addition, it's a budget-friendly alternative to similar styles from other big names - the cream version bears a resemblance to the Mint Velvet Textured Boucle Jacket, priced at £175 at John Lewis, while the black version looks like the Hugo Boss Collarless Tweed Jacket, which would set you back £349.

The cardigan has earned rave reviews from M&S shoppers too, who described it as "perfect for the cool autumn evenings" and said it "goes with lots of things" to make it even better value for money.

One impressed reviewer fed back: "Stylish cardigan which could be worn as an autumnal jacket as quite thick. Bought the ecru mix which I love and will get a lot of wear from it."

Another shopper described it as "effortlessly smart", adding: "Really nice fit, although it's boxy it cinches at the waist when on, giving a really easy smart look - great addition to my work wardrobe."

A third person praised: "I think it is great value. Each time I have worn it someone has remarked upon it. It is very versatile - great with jeans or more formal trousers. A great addition to the wardrobe if travelling."

And someone else wrote: "I love this, I bought the cream one and it is gorgeous. It is more of a jacket as it is very heavy. Looks lovely with black jeans or wide leg trousers."

However, while the majority of M&S shoppers awarded the cardigan the full five stars, multiple customers complained that they found the sleeves "too long". To get a similar look for less elsewhere on the high street, New Look's lookalike Boucle Jersey Cardigan has a price tag of just £29.99 and comes in black, cream or navy.
