BBC's The Repair Shop favourite Steve Fletcher has given fans an update on his health from the hospital after being notably absent from the recent series announcement. Taking to Instagram, Steve shared a photo of himself in a hospital bed, smiling despite the circumstances.

"I'm in a different kind of repair shop today... And this time it was me being repaired! " he captioned the image. "Just had a small knee operation, and pleased to report that all went well."

He continued to express his gratitude: "Ever grateful for the skill and kindness of our healthcare professionals - absolutely wonderful people."

"Thank you to all who looked after me today," he concluded. Fans, who had picked up on Steve's absence from the new series announcement and were aware of the controversy surrounding Jay Blades after his arrest, quickly offered their support.

"Wishing you a full and speedy recovery Steve," commented one concerned follower. "Oh my goodness as long as you keep ticking! ! Speedy recovery master craftsman," another chimed in on Saturday morning (September 28), reports Birmingham Live.

"Hope the doctors did as good a job for you as you do for everyone who goes to the Repair Shop! " another Instagram user hoped.

Steve was absent from the announcement about the new series, amid a plague of controversy surrounding Jay Blades following his arrest.

Discussing Jay's legal troubles, a show source previously said: "The Beeb won't feature any new shows in which he appears until it is clear how legal proceedings conclude."
