Strictly Come Dancing's Chris McCausland has revealed how his wife, Patricia, is the "very opposite" of him, adding a touch of "chaos" to their household.

The 47-year-old comic rose to prominence at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2005, where he met Patricia who was working on a documentary about the event.

Despite being visually impaired due to retinitis pigmentosa (RP), Chris fondly recalls having fun with her during the project. They now have a 10-year-old daughter named Sophie.

The Liverpool-born comedian values the balance in their relationship, where he brings calmness and Patricia, originally from Brazil but moving to Britain at a young age, injects chaos.

Discussing their dynamics on Gyles Brandreth's Rosebud podcast earlier this year, Chris explained: "We spent a lot of time together when the camera wasn't running, socialising, going out and doing things, and we just had a lot of fun. We were very opposite, she comes across as very British but she's Brazilian, she came across when she was five or six."

He further added: "Her life is chaos in the way that Brazilian people are chaos. It's a natural attribute of their being that they are very proud of - they bring chaos to any room.", reports the Liverpool Echo.

Chris amusingly described conversations between Patricia and her mother: "The number of times she'll be talking in Portuguese to her mum and then I'll say to her, 'are you okay? What happened there?' and she'll say, 'we were just..' but it sounds like they had the most horrific argument and they're just talking about what they're going to do that day.

"Full of energy, took me out of my comfort zone, and I think me to her, I made her laugh and was almost this calming presence in her life that she was attracted to."

He was working at a call centre when Chris decided it was time to pursue his passion for stand-up comedy full-time, revealing the "adrenaline surge" saw him gigging "four or five times" a week. He said: "I gave up the day job, I gave up the call centre two years in, which is really quite quick. I just took a leap, really, and I got a credit card lined up in case I needed it, and I never needed it, thank god."

"I ended up loving it so much, I enjoyed the people I met from all walks of life doing comedy, and although the call centre was one of the best decisions I've ever made in my life, the work itself was a little bit mind-numbing. And so having this adrenaline, this surge to look forward to in an evening, I ended up gigging four to five nights a week."

Chris is now gearing up for week three of Strictly Come Dancing tonight, following last week's performance with partner Dianne Buswell where they scored 52 points with a foxtrot to "Be Young, Be Foolish, Be Happy" by The Tams. Strictly Come Dancing is broadcast on BBC One at 6.25pm.
