Marks and Spencer shoppers rush to buy 'perfect for autumn' £40 dress in 'gorgeous' colour
The Cord Round Neck Mini Waisted Dress has earned praise for its 'flattering' style, with shoppers saying they received 'lots of compliments' while wearing it

The Cord Round Neck Mini Waisted Dress has rocketed up the bestseller list in recent weeks and is continuing to fly off the shelves as the "perfect" autumn wardrobe staple. Priced at £39.50, the dress comes in two classic autumnal shades - a rich copper red or a 'biscuit' beige - with its classic look equally suited to dressing up with statement jewellery and boots or down with tights and a cosy jacket on chilly days out.
Designed with a "flattering" waisted shape and long sleeves with subtle flute detailing, the dress comes in petite and tall sizes as well as regular - if your size is sold out when you shop, you can choose to be notified via email when it comes back in or check stock at your nearest branch with the 'find in store' option. And with the dress selling fast, it has earned a string of rave reviews from M&S shoppers.
One shopper hailed it as "beautiful and cosy", writing in a five-star review: "I wore this today and got lots of compliments. It's just perfect for autumn. Good quality and true to size."
Another reviewer agreed: "I absolutely love this dress, the colour and fit are perfect! The material isn't too heavy and just right for autumn, for winter you can add another layer underneath. I even bought the biscuit colour too. Please bring out more colours!"
A third customer raved: "Gorgeous colour, cord material not too thick which is nice because then you don't get too hot. Nice cut and shape. Good length."
And someone else wrote: "Really flattering dress in super soft fine cord material. Great colour and style for the autumn."
Others M&S shoppers praised the dress as "bang on trend" and "easy to wear", saying it "looks gorgeous on" and would be a wardrobe staple for "many years to come". However, while the majority of reviewers awarded it the full five stars, some found that the sizing was "too tight" around the shoulders, while others said they wished it had pockets.
For a similar look elsewhere on the high street with more colours to choose from, the Flora Cord Shirt Dress at Boden comes in six shades including an eye-popping pink, luxurious green or classic navy as well as patterned options, although it does have a considerably higher price tag of £110. For a more budget-friendly option that has a longer skirt perfect for cold weather, the Kite Lillington Cord Dress has been reduced to less than half price at Debenhams, and comes in a stylish teal colour now for just £38.25 down from £90.
