The latest episode of The Chase has set tongues wagging for all the wrong reasons.

Wednesday's episode proved to be divisive as ITV viewers claimed a contestant was 'robbed', insisting the quizzer gave the correct answer before his elimination.

During the episode, Max, 20, joined show host Bradley Walsh for a cash builder ahead of his turn battling the chaser.

But when Max was faced with a question about LeBron James, viewers were left up in arms as his very specific answer was rejected by the host.

Bradley asked Max: 'LeBron James is one of the so called playmakers for what console brand?'

Max eagerly answered 'PS4', which was rejected by Bradley.

While LeBron is a PS4 player, Bradley asked for the brand, not specific console.

So he disallowed the response because the answer he was looking for was 'PlayStation'.

The ruling did not go down well with viewers, who believed he should have been allowed the answer and given an extra £1,000.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, one viewer penned: 'I was waiting for them to allow that!! PS4 is PlayStation!'

'PS4 is PlayStation.'

'Surely you'd accept PS4?'

'Another answer robbed! PS is Playstation!!'

But some considered the decision to disallow the response fair.

Some took the opposite view and wrote: 'Complaints about the PlayStation question, Bradley asked For BRAND, NOT A SPECIFIC CONSOLE! He shouldn't have got through!'

'But it's a standalone console, not a console brand.'

The controversial episode comes after Bradley told the Daily Mail when he intended to retire from his position on the show.

He has been the face of The Chase for 15 years - since it first aired - and said until people no longer have an interest, the show will go on.

He explained: 'Until people say they've had enough and start switching off I'll do it.

'We've had such an extraordinary time together. It's the best job in the world.'
