Legendary noughties band are 'set to reunite for a huge UK arena tour'

Iconic noughties band Scissor Sisters are reportedly set to reunite after 12 years for a massive UK arena tour in 2025.  

Jake Shears and Ana Matronic will hit the road next year, 20 years after they topped the UK charts by selling more than six million copies of their self-titled debut album, accoridng to reports.

Although the band currently have no plans to make new music and have not released a full album since 2012’s Magic Hour, they are said to be taking to the stage at London's O2 and Manchester's Co-op Live arena. 

A music insider told The Sun: 'There have been talks about a Scissor Sisters reunion for years but it was never the right time.

'Now schedules are finally in place for shows in 2025. The band are on good terms again and it’s all systems go.

'They will be playing major arenas up and down the UK and the hope is that there is new music further down the line.'

As well as Jake and Ana, the band consists of instrumentalist Del Marquis on lead guitar, and Randy Real on drums (having replaced Paddy Boom). 

Earlier this year, Jake said: 'I would love [to reunite]. I would love to. It’s really a dream of mine and I hope that I can make it happen someday.' 

Scissor Sisters released four albums during their time together and had hits such as Laura, Take Your Mama, Filthy/Gorgeous, Comfortably Numb and their No1 smash I Don’t Feel Like Dancin’.

After splitting, Jake released two solo albums and had a starring role in Cabaret in London’s West End, while Ana has become a radio presenter and DJ. 

The iconic band formed in 2000 and went on to win three Brit awards and be nominated for a Grammy before they announced an indefinite hiatus in 2012. 

Frontman Jake Shears previously spoke about creating new music, telling NME: ’I really want to make another Scissors record – I don’t know when that’s gonna be.’

He added: ‘I think everybody would need to want to do it. I don’t wanna twist anybody’s arm – that would just be no fun.’

He did however rule out the idea of reuniting for an anniversary tour, saying in 2021: ‘I don’t think I would be into that. I would want to make new music.’

The American band last released music in 2012 with their fourth and final studio album Magic Hour.

In 2019, Jake spoke about the band going on hiatus, saying their hit Let’s Have a Kiki, which topped Billboard’s US Dance Club Songs list, ‘broke up the band’.

He told Gay Cities: ‘I truly had no idea what to follow that up with. So I thought, we’ve been recording and touring for 10 years, and I felt like it was time.

‘This wasn’t what anybody in the band had planned to do. So I thought it would be fun to end on a high note.

‘But you know what? That’s not to say we’re never going to do anything again. The Scissor Sisters will be back.’
