Strictly judge Shirley Ballas dealt HUGE blow before Blackpool week
by TASH MOSHEIM SHOWBUSINESS REPORTER · Mail OnlineShirley Ballas has been dealt a huge blow after she was forced to slash ticket prices for her one-woman show held in Strictly’s spiritual home Blackpool.
Despite the event taking place one day before the Strictly team take over the much-loved Blackpool ballroom, the show’s head judge has faced a significant setback, with ticket prices dramatically slashed by 75% in a bid to boost sales.
The event, scheduled for November 15 at Blackpool’s Conference and Exhibition Centre, has seen the price of tickets drop from £30 to just £7.50, just one day before Strictly's Blackpool episode airs.
The newly discounted tickets are now available on Show Film First, a platform commonly used by artists and theatre productions struggling to sell tickets at full price.
The site currently offers fans the chance to purchase up to 50 tickets per person, indicating that substantial availability remains just days before the event.
The evening will feature readings from Shirley’s second novel, Dance to the Death, the latest instalment in her Sequin Mysteries series.
Described as an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at her new work, the event promises an intimate evening where the 64-year-old mother-of-one will share insights into her writing process and the book itself.
‘Step into a world of mystery and intrigue with the queen of the ballroom, Shirley Ballas, at Winter Gardens Blackpool.
‘On the eve of Strictly Come Dancing’s live filming at Blackpool Tower Ballroom, Shirley invites you to an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at her captivating follow-up novel, Dance To The Death.
‘Join us for an intimate evening where Shirley will share insights into her latest work, part of the sensational Sequin Mysteries series.’
The embarrassing blow comes just days after it was revealed that Shirley has split from her fiancé, actor Daniel Taylor, after nearly six years together.
The couple, who became engaged in 2021, called off their wedding earlier this year.
A source told The Sun that distance played a part in the end of Shirley's relationship, describing it as 'a very sad situation'.
'She gave her all to that relationship and in the end came to the realisation that it wasn't going anywhere. She made a lot of effort to see Danny and support his theatre and panto work, travelling up and down the country,' the source said.
'Distance also played its part - Shirley lives in London with her mother and Danny remains based in Liverpool; that commute is a killer.
'But Shirley is a strong, resilient character and is looking better than ever. She will 100% bounce back - 2025 promises to be an absolute corker for her.'
Shirley was married to former ballroom star Sammy Stopford from 1980 to 1984, and later tied the knot with dancer Corky Ballas in 1985. The couple split in 2007 after 22 years together.
MailOnline has contacted a spokesperson for Shirley Ballas for comment.
