RMC identifies 17 water bodies for idol immersion in City

The Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) has identified 17 reservoirs and ponds across the City for immersion of idols which is to take place post the festival of Dussehera. 

To ensure that the water bodies remain clean, the civic body has taken various steps. A jal kund which is the demarcated area for idol immersion has been made in all the water bodies using bamboo sticks and red ribbons while all puja committees have also been instructed to adhere to the guidelines.

“The basic motto is to preserve the water body. To avoid any mishap, deep areas in the water bodies have been marked and barricaded and red ribbons have been tied to ensure that no one crosses the line. Nets tied to bamboo sticks are also used to demarcate the area so as to prevent the entire water body from getting polluted. It has also been decided that within 24 hours of the immersion process, the remains of the immersed idols will be taken out of the water by the corporation,” informed an official.

The Durga Puja organising committees have been directed to collect clothes, artificial jewellery and garlands used to adorn the idols and hand them over to the supervisors and workers present at the site. A Multi- Purpose Supervisor appointed by RMC will be present at the venue will all the necessary resources.

Water tanks or jal kunds are being made in  the water bodies including Argora Talab, Kanke Dam, Madhukam Talab, Bada Talab, Chadri Talab (Line Tank Road), Jail Talab, Jagannathpur Talab and Hundru Talab to name a few.

“We at RMC are determined to provide a clean and pleasant City to the people of Ranchi. In light of the instructions of the Municipal Commissioner constant efforts are being made in this regard,” added the official.
