An iconic outdoor clothing store has become the latest victim to the dwindling high street after confirming their store will close.

Major clothing brand Trespass has announced their shop in Coventry will shut their doors and announced an ‘everything must go’ sale.

The retailer, which has 300 branches in the UK, has not yet announced if jobs will be affected.

They employ 1,500 people but around a dozen of their locations have closed this year.

In July 2023 they confirmed six of its UK outlets will shut down.

This includes a location in Norwich which shut in September, with customers saying ‘the days of high street shopping are over’.

But active-wear lovers should not fear too much, as the brand bosses announced they would move to a new location to maintain a presence in the city.

The new location will be in the Castle Quarter area of Norwich.

The opening date is yet to be confirmed.

General manager Paul McCarthy said: ‘Trespass is leaving the centre and we are in talks with other retailers about the space.

‘Just last week we welcomed Pop Specs to the centre and Ben & Jerry’s will be opening very soon too.’

A new tenant for the site is yet to be confirmed.

There has been a wave of store closures this year, with chemists Boots confirming 290 stores will shut .

Dobbies Garden Centres, the largest garden centre operator in the UK with some 77 stores and nearly 1,000 staff, is shuttering 17 sites.

Peacocks, a Welsh fast-fashion chain employing some 6,000 people, is closing down one of its branches in Consett, County Durham.
