National Express has issued an apology after passengers were left horrified by the sight of 'cockroaches all over the back seat' on a bus. The creepy crawlies, featuring their unmistakable long antennae, were captured on video aboard the number 11 service, popularly known as the Birmingham Outer Circle route, reports the Express.

The distressing footage was shared with the 'Brumz Updates' Facebook page and swiftly spread across various social media channels. The video's caption highlighted the issue, saying: "Cockroaches on the 11 bus this morning, all over the back seat."

National Express informed BirminghamLive that their buses are subjected to nightly inspections and cleaning once the day's services end. They additionally emphasised that they carry out "regular deep cleaning" routinely but still extended an apology, referring to the incident as "rare".

Social media users did not hold back on their reactions to the video. Nicola Cardall stated her shock in a comment: "Please tell me that isn't real. I hate cockroaches and get the 11 four times daily."

Jo Lea voiced her ongoing concerns, stating: "I've complained many times about the buses being filthy but never had a response." Sue Hall, on the other hand, commented on the post thanking her lucky stars she doesn't use the bus.

Amidst the reactions, Andrew Boxall added some levity with his remark: "Hope it's got a daysaver if it's going to be on there all day." Richard Farrell identified a possible root of the problem, commenting: "If people didn't leave their rubbish all over the bus, they wouldn't be on them. It's disgusting the state of some of the buses."

In response, a spokesperson for National Express said: "We sincerely apologise to our customers for the inconvenience. Our buses are inspected and cleaned every night at the end of service and we conduct regular deep cleaning. Reports such as these are extremely rare and we're committed to providing a safe and clean environment for our passengers and colleagues."
