Amarillo, Stop With the Panic Buying of Toilet Paper Again

· NewsTalk 1290

This seems like Amarillo, and maybe the rest of the world has time warped back to 2020. All of the talk on social media, again, is trying to find toilet paper. What in the world is going on? Why has this become a thing again four years later?

It was ridiculous then. It is even more ridiculous now. Stop it. We shouldn't go to the stores and see empty places where the toilet paper used to be. People shouldn't be turning to social media to see where there is toilet paper.

Why Has Toilet Paper Become a Hot Topic Again in 2024?

Well first, there is a port strike going on right now. The strike is going on along the East and Gulf Coasts. The strike is going on because workers want more money for one. Most strikes have to do with better pay. That is not the only issue.

With the strike people all over are going back to 2020 and panic buying. In what didn't make much sense in 2020 toilet paper is one of the main panic buys.

I don’t know who needs to hear this but Angel Soft and Quilted Northern are made by Georgia Pacific right here in the USA. No need to hoard the TP like it’s 2020. - Andrew

I was shopping at Market Street last night and I bought two packs of toilet paper. The cashier asked me if this purchase was because of the strike. I chuckled and told him that no, my daughter had toilet paper on her shopping list. So I bought a big pack for her house. I bought a four-pack for my house since I was having them over for a week.

I told him how ridiculous this was. Then I saw the perfect post shared by the City of Borger.

Y'all are wild.
This post is titled, "Things that will not be impacted by a port strike, so please don't buy up all the toilet paper again."
•Produce: Fruits, Vegetables, Dairy, Meat, Eggs, Juice
•Raw Materials: Lumber, Minerals, Domestic Oil
•Air Freighted Goods: Medical supplies
•TOILET PAPER.
Keep in mind, we still have West Coast Ports, and Air Freighted Goods.
Things that MIGHT be impacted:
•Auto Parts
•Imported Vehicles
•Clothing & Footwear
•Furniture
•Specialty Products
•Tropical Fruits
•Coffee/Tea
•Toys

So the toilet paper is safe. Most of the toilet paper is produced right here in America. So there will be no shortage. Please stop it already. Hopefully, this port strike will end soon and things will get back to normal. Well, as normal as they can be in an election year.
