Co-op says 'sorry' to customers and urges them to 'return to store'

The Co-op has apologised to customers as it urgently recalled a pasta dish and urged customers to return to stores. The Co-op, which is rivalled by the likes of Lidl, Aldi, Morrisons, Sainsbury's, Tesco and more, has issued an alert through the Food Standards Agency.

The FSA has warned: "Co-op recalls Co-op Irresistible Luxury Lasagne Al Forno because it may contain mustard and sulphites which are not declared on the label. This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to mustard and/or a sensitivity to sulphur dioxide and/or sulphites."

The product is the Co-op Irresistible Luxury Lasagne Al Forno in pack size 700g with a best before date and use by expiry date of 17 November 17. The FS stated: "The product may contain mustard and/or sulphites making it a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to mustard and/or a sensitivity to sulphur dioxide and/or sulphites."

The health and safety notice went on to warn: "Co-op is recalling the above product from customers and has contacted the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall. The company has also issued a point-of-sale notice to its customers. These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product.

"If you have bought the above product and have an allergy to mustard and/or a sensitivity to sulphur dioxide and/or sulphites do not consume it. Instead, dispose of the product. For a refund or replacement (subject to availability) please visit your local store. If you purchased online, you can receive a refund by calling 0330 041 7737.

Co-op's official notice read: "Co-op Irresistible Luxury Lasagne Al Forno 700g is being recalled because it may contain mustard and sulphites which are not mentioned on the label.

"This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to mustard and sulphites. For a refund or replacement (subject to availability) please visit your local store. If purchased online, you can receive a refund by calling 0330 041 7737.
