Jet2 has issued a warning to UK tourists and holidaymakers flying out of major UK airport this week as passengers are urged to "allow extra time". Jet2, which is rivalled by Easyjet, Ryanair, TUI and more, has warned traffic restrictions could affect access to the East Midlands Airport this week.

Drivers heading to East Midlands Airport are being warned of significant overnight road closures affecting key access routes during weekday nights. Two key slip roads will be affected during these overnight closures, Jet2 has warned this week.

It said: "East Midlands Airport - Road Works until December 2024. Last Updated: Wednesday 6th November 2024, 15:00 GMT. We have been made aware of road works between Junction 23A and Junction 25 on the M1, one lane will be permanently closed on the Northbound and Southbound carriageways with a 50mph speed restriction in place.

"Delays are likely during peak hours." It went on and also warned its customers: "There will be sporadic closures of Junction 23A slip roads, between the hours of 22:00 and 06:00. There will be signed diversions. Please allow enough time to travel to East Midlands Airport as all Jet2.com flights are due to operate as scheduled."

It said: "Please check this section of the website at least 12 hours before your flight for the latest flight information. Further information can be found by using the above search panel by entering your flight number or route. We recommend arriving at the airport at least 2 hours before your scheduled departure time.

"Please remember - check in desks close 40 minutes before this." Jet2 went on, adding in its guidance: "In the event of flight disruption our dedicated Operations teams are working hard behind the scenes at our UK-based HQ to get you on your way as soon as possible."
