I cooked an entire roast dinner in a new £250 air fryer from Amazon and it's a 'game-changer'

Unless you've been living under a rock for the last few years, you'll know that air fryers have been taking over the world - or at least everyone's kitchens. And it's not hard to see why - with the huge benefits of cooking with an air fryer.

They take up much less space in your kitchen, are quicker than your traditional oven - meaning they are more energy efficient when those household bills keep on rising. It's really not hard to see why many households love them.

We've had an air fryer at home for around 18 months now and it has been a lifesaver. Whether it's heating up a quick dinner from the freezer for the kids when we're in a rush, or making delicious cheese and ham toasties at lunchtimes when I work from home (thanks for the tip Kirsty). However, our air fryer was on the small side - and I always felt envious when I saw others making bigger meals with theirs, or cooking various things at once.

So when I was given the opportunity to try COSORI's brand new air fryer - I leapt at the chance, particularly as it was double the size of our current air fryer! The state-of-the-art COSORI TwinFry Dual Blaze 10L Air Fryer launched in the UK earlier this month - and is now available to buy on Amazon for £249.99 - reduced from £289.99.

It boasts a 10 litre capacity and has a dual chamber design, with a removable separator. It claims to 'cook meals 65 per cent faster and save up to 45 per cent more energy' compared to other traditional cooking methods. It also has six cooking functions and can be controlled with an app on your phone.

But how would we get on? On first impressions, the device was HUGE. It was twice the size of our old air fryer - but with double the litre capacity, I'm not surprised. But despite this, it still slotted perfectly onto our worktops under the cupboards - and didn't look too clunky with other appliances.

I also loved the six cooking functions - bake, air fry, roast, dry, grill and reheat. I haven't even got to grips with most of them but it offers more opportunity for cooking. Plus it was great to be able to control it all through a handy app on my phone. I could set up the temperature, what time I wanted the air fryer to come on and set timers. There's also recipes on there - which I can't wait to look into more and try out with my family.

The first thing we tried out was an easy frozen chicken nuggets and chips dinner for our two boys after school and before football training. On days when we just need to feed them quickly, the air fryer is absolute genius. And it actually cooked much quicker than we expected - and faster than our previous air fryer!

I loved the fact that with different temperatures and timings - we could use both sides of the COSORI air fryer, controlled by the app. I could put the chicken to come on first at a set temperature, and then the chips to start a little later on a different setting - but they'd both be ready at the same time. Just perfect. Our kids had their dinner on the table within 20 minutes and we were out the door another 15 minutes later - result.

When I work from home, quick and easy - but also delicious - breakfast options are high on my list. So I decided to have a go at making a quick breakfast bagel with egg, cheese and ham. The air fryer almost made it too easy and I'll be reaching for this more and more. Within a few minutes my breakfast was cooked to perfection - and tasted absolutely delicious! I loved how effortless it was too, no dirty pans to wash up, no other kitchen items to tidy away.

A rogue choice for me, because anyone knows me knows I am the worst baker in the world, I am truly awful. But my stepson and I decided to try and make a banana bread in the air fryer - as we had some leftover bananas from the week.

I was unsure how well the air fryer would handle baking. But using the bake setting, we couldn't believe it. And the delicious smell that came drifting through the house was unreal. The banana bread came out golden brown, with a soft and fluffy inside - baked to perfection. And it took a lot less time than it ever did in the oven (yes I was that girl who joined the Covid lockdown banana bread hype).

But my biggest challenge yet - making a roast dinner in the air fryer. I'd seen so many people do this on social media - and now I know why.

We managed successfully cooked a chicken crown, stuffing balls, pigs in blankets, roast potatoes, broccoli, carrots and Yorkshire puddings - all in the same air fryer! The spacious dual basket allowed us to cook them all at different settings and times. And due to the speed of the air fryer they were easy to rotate and add in - and everything was ready at once. It also saved on cooking time - and less washing up too!

The chicken crown was cooked to perfection, the garlic and herb skin was crispy, while the meat was tender. I was blown away at how good the roast potatoes were too! Chef's kiss.

Our veg had cooked really well too with the roast setting - we were so impressed. The only slight disappointment was the Yorkshire puddings went slightly overly crispy - but not inedible. It was honestly one of the best home-cooked roast dinners we'd ever made - there were four empty plates all round.

Overall we were really pleased with the COSORI TwinFry Dual Blaze 10L Air Fryer - and see it much more than just another kitchen appliance. The versatile appliance can help us bake, roast and more. And I love the fact that you can operate it as two separate compartments, or even just use it as a larger space.

It's certainly exceeded my expectations and experience with air fryers. I can see why people pay more for a bigger model now - as you reap the rewards with efficiency and energy-saving. It's a thumbs up from us.
